Downtown Coffee Guide
Coffee, for some, is a vital part of a person’s day so it is no surprise that it’s important to find a good cup. Lucky for downtown residents, there are a few coffee houses that fit the criteria.
Urban is a landmark coffee bar that has a cozy environment and great signature drinks. The unique shop is located on the corner of Kittson Avenue and 4th St S, in a historic building called the “Odd Fellows Building” with stunning architecture. This building was built in 1888, and is one of two of the Richardsonian Romanesque buildings left downtown. Urban Stampede is also the host to the “World’s Smallest Art Gallery,” located in the back of the building. If you venture back to the bathrooms, one is inside the old bank safe that was repurposed. Stop in and stay awhile with a cup of coffee and beautiful works of art!
Looking to save the world with a cup of coffee? The Ember is non-profit shop located on N 3rd St where all of the workers are volunteers and the money from each cup goes into a fund to be donated to a local cause at the end of each month. The coffee house is perfect for meeting up with friends, studying for a class, or hosting a meeting with their private meeting room available for rent. The Ember also hosts live music events and craft show vendors open to the public. To keep up with all the events check out their Facebook page!
